Our home sits in the natural terrain of it's surroundings, offering a wooded setting with beautiful nature views and lots of clean mountain air.  You can spend your time relaxing or venture out to Murphy and the surrounding areas.  We are centrally located to water activities, shopping, eateries, antiques, country backroads, hiking, wineries and more.  Historic places, must-see sites, well-known towns, hidden gems and some of the most beautiful scenery possible are all Down The Road Just A Bit in every direction.

Murphy River Walk

The Murphy River Walk is a 4-mile greenway that encircles the historic town center of Murphy, North Carolina. The trail is well-maintained and offers a peaceful hike along the Hiwassee River and the Valley River. The path is suitable for walkers, joggers, and bikers, and is also pet-friendly.

Trail Features

  • The trail has multiple access points, including Konehete Park, McClelland Street, and the Old L&N Depot trail heads.

  • The trail follows the river and offers scenic views of the surrounding woods and wildlife.

  • There are several benches and seating areas along the trail, making it a great spot for a relaxing walk or picnic.

  • The trail is also home to the famous Leech Place of Cherokee Legend.

Downtown Murphy

Downtown is beautiful with flower lined streets and several historic buildings. Murphy has restaurants, unique shops, and other interesting establishments all within walking distance in the heart of town. 

Recreational activities are unlimited from local trout streams to mountain biking. Hiwassee Lake is considered one of the most beautiful in the state. Murphy offers something for every sports enthusiast. If you are looking for a beautiful small town in the mountains, look no further. Murphy, with its population of approx 1700, resembles a Norman Rockwell painting. It is indeed small town life at the very best. We look forward to seeing you!

Rivers of Murphy

Murphy, NC is surrounded by several rivers, including the Hiwassee River, Nottely River, and Valley River. These rivers offer a range of recreational activities such as fishing, kayaking, and canoeing.

The Hiwassee River is a 60-mile-long river that flows through the western part of Cherokee County, North Carolina. It is a popular spot for fishing, with a variety of fish species including trout, bass, and catfish.

The Nottely River is a 76-mile-long river that flows through the northwestern part of Georgia and into North Carolina. It is a popular spot for fishing and boating, with a variety of fish species including bass, catfish, and trout.

The Valley River is a 30-mile-long river that flows through the town of Murphy, North Carolina. It is a popular spot for fishing, kayaking, and canoeing, with a variety of fish species including trout, bass, and catfish.

The rivers of Murphy, NC offer a range activities and scenic views, making them a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts. There’s something for everyone in the area.

Local farmers and craftsmen come together and share.

  • Dates: April through October, Saturday, 9:00am-1:00pm

  • Location: L&N Depot, 4 Railroad St, Murphy, NC

A group of local farmers and craftsmen come together every Saturday from 9am-1pm, bringing you chemical free food and handcrafted products. Located at the L&N Depot in Downtown Murphy. We welcome all, including pets! Join us on Saturdays from the first Sat. in April to the last Sat. in Oct.

Concerts featuring local, live music will be on the first Sat. of each month, starting in May.

There is no admission charge and lots of good, small-town FUN!
